The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel is a new entry in the Legend of Heroes series, set in the early Edolas period, which was written to appeal to an even wider variety of players than in past entries. The story is set in a peaceful Edolas, but soon the continent’s peace is shattered by Dornkahl’s invasion of the Northern Lands, a power-hungry northern nation that just happens to include the very Holy Empire of Erebonian, the most powerful nation in the Lands Between. Not only is the empire the target of Dornkahl’s ambition, the empire’s own army also allies with Dornkahl to destroy the rival nation. As a result of the invasion, the Holy Empire and the neighboring country of Eria split apart, which leads to political strife, the rise of several powerful individuals, and the appearance of the God-King. The story begins at a crossroad of a number of eras of Edolas history, as it explores the tragic destiny of the descendants of three nations, including Aluthia, the empire of the Holy Empire; Eria, a nation whose fate lies in its own hands; and Efal, a nation that floats in a balance between two sides. A conflict on the Northern Front. At this time, the Empire of Erebonian in the north suddenly invades the Northern Lands. By the order of King Ishtvan, a mercenary army is dispatched to the northern front to guard against the invasion. As the general of the Erebonian army, Sahdray is put in a position of influence over a number of countries and churches, as well as the bureaucracy of Edolas. A battle over the Edolas Altar. As the situation over the northern front deepens, the Erebonian army threatens to invade the Holy Empire and Eria.
