Getting started with my Micro ZynqMP family of development boards Introduction I like to think that I’ve been using ARM-based microcontrollers and SoC in various contexts for the past 10 years. It started way back in the PC-XT400-based embedded development kits when we first heard about ARM-based CPUs and ARM ISA, continued with the MPSoC200 FPGA-based development, and it carried over to the Zynq™-based platforms which included the eZ430 FPGA series. I was quite enthusiastic when I first heard that the Zynq (now Micro Zynq) is a low power, highly capable ARM based SoC. I got my hands on one and started modifying and developing for it. The Zynq produced an ASEAN-based design (which I later learned has since been replaced by an EU-based one called MicroZed) that occupied about 300 x 300 mm of QFP-12 package. So to get around this, we later started down the path for getting a design into a SOC-18 package that occupied a 45 x 45 mm footprint.
