The cameras on top of the building will ‘provide 24/7, 360-degree panoramic views of Tower Bridge and the River Thames’, according to the application submitted by the company planning to build the tower.

All the buildings within the proposed development will have to be compliant with the Equality Act 2010, as they will have to have at least one disabled toilet accessible to all residents.

The application has been granted planning permission by Tower Hamlets Council, with the building to be constructed by the end of this year.

Earlier this year a community group, Tower Hamlets Together, released a report that highlighted that Tower Hamlets is the most racially segregated area in the UK.

The report, based on an analysis of 2011 Census data, found that the population of Tower Hamlets is largely Bangladeshi and black African, and that the vast majority of residents can’t speak English at home.

Tower Hamlets Together said that there is a huge discrepancy between the growing number of immigrants living in the borough and a shocking lack of services and facilities for people with learning difficulties.

They claimed that Tower Hamlets council spends less than 4% of its budget on these services, when they should be receiving around 8% of funding.

The most recent analysis, carried out in 2016, found that there are around 6,900 residents in Tower Hamlets with a disability who struggle to access local services, including transport, training or employment.
