France (Reuters) – A French judge on Wednesday dropped a preliminary charge of money laundering against the Italian fashion designer Gianfranco Ferré, whose “Little Black Dress” was worn by Nicole Kidman, Madonna and the Duchess of Cambridge.

Judge Jean-Yves Duclos said in a statement that the evidence against Ferré had “not been sufficient to charge him with money laundering”.

“In the absence of satisfactory proof, I cannot conclude that the prosecution has been able to identify a crime of money laundering committed by the defendant Gianfranco Ferré,” the judge said.

The case against Ferré centres on $11.6 million he received in 1988 from a Franco-Italian businessman in the sale of shares in his fashion label in Rome, Ferré’s lawyer Emmanuel Tricaud said.

It had been a long-standing disagreement about what was due to Ferré, the French court has heard.

The businessman died in a car accident in 1992 and the case came to light in 2006, when a Swiss lawyer asked the court to look at whether Ferré had sold some of the proceeds from the sale of his shares to an account in the name of another person, Tricaud said.

The judge has now decided that the evidence does not allow him to make the charge, and that any money that Ferré had already spent on the shares in 1988 must be considered returned income.

The Clozure CL family includes a Lisp dialect and a set of programming tools
for building languages and applications. It is designed for the Macintosh
and, in general, is a strongly integrated, robust system.

In 1994, researchers at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of
Pennsylvania developed the Clozure Common Lisp project, an open source
distribution of a full Lisp implementation. At that time, there was
nothing like it available in the Macintosh market.

A year later, in 1995, a team of Carnegie Mellon researchers began the
development of a similar Lisp dialect, Clozure Lisp, to replace the
dead-end implementation of Lisp known as Interactive Lisp in MCL, which
was itself a product of Interactive Computer Software. In 1997,
Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pennsylvania formed Clozure Associates
and initiated Clozure Common Lisp. Subsequently, a team of researchers
from the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania
joined Clozure Associates to develop the implementation of Clozure CL.

Clozure CL runs on Macintosh and the Sun Solaris platforms. It is the
flagship product of Clozure Associates, a professional software company
based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, founded in 1994 to commercialize the
work at Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pennsylvania. In addition
to Clozure CL, Clozure Associates’ offerings include Clozure Common Lisp,
the development environment, and a family of high-performance Maclisp
implementations.

The Clozure CL family is a research-oriented development environment
which supports the construction of applications in Lisp. The Clozure CL
team consists of experts from Carnegie Mellon University and the Georgia
Institute of Technology. Clozure CL is a highly integrated environment
that supports the creation of applications and data bases in Lisp. It
includes a language for defining new Lisp dialects and is extensible to
add new dialects and features to Clozure CL.

The Clozure CL family is not a complete Lisp implementation. While
it provides implementations of standard Lisp, it does not include
