The goal of this software is to improve the efficiency of a Windows-based network. The software allows administrators to change configurations, such as Windows startup files, after a user has logged on to the computer. Once the user logs on, the configuration will be applied on the next switch from the logged on user. The software also enables administrators to set commands to run on startup or shutdown of the computer.
For the Microsoft Windows platform, ROFUS works in conjunction with the Power Manager Service. ROFUS will change the startup file on the login screen if the Power Manager Service is running, or it will change the configuration on the next user switch if the Power Manager Service is not running.
How to Set ROFUS:
Press WIN + R and type: control UserServices. Right click on the Power Manager Service (UserServices.exe) in the list and select Start.
Note: The Power Manager Service starts automatically when you start the computer. If you start the computer in the disabled state, you will have to manually start the Power Manager Service.
To find the Power Manager Service, press WIN + R and type: services. Right click on the Power Manager Service and select Start.
In the list of services, double click on the Power Manager Service.
Note: After you start the Power Manager Service, the configuration will be applied on the next switch from the logged on user. If the power manager service was not running, the configuration will be applied on the login screen.
Click on the Startup tab, then click on the Properties button.

The RunOnFastUserSwitch element specifies the name of an application
that should be run when the system’s user switches. This is useful for
changing the volume or screen resolution, depending on which user is
logged in. This is typically used to change the screen resolution and
sound volume for the primary user.
The UserSwitch event enables applications that use this element to run
when the user switches between logged-in users. Applications use this
event to respond to a user switching without having to use the Start
element.
The Application element specifies the name of an application to be run
when the specified user switches.
The Manufacturer element specifies the name of the application’s
manufacturer.
The FriendlyName element specifies the name of the application’s
friendly name.
The HelpFile element specifies the name of the application’s help file.

A small utility which will allow you to start specific application on initial logon. To use, simply add the name of the application, or applications, as a string in the ROFUS “Program Name” box.
Note that it will not start the application when switching between users, since this is not the purpose of the program.
If you wish to start the same application on logout, then you can use “Reopen specific program” and specify that application in the box next to it.
Installation:
If you wish to start the program on initial logon, simply add the command line for the program to the “Start this program” box, without quotation marks. If you want to start this application each time you logon, add the command line for the application in quotation marks, before the standard “Startup” command, in the “Start this program” box.

Installation of Open Source Programs:
Although ROFUS provides the ability to start any number of specific applications on initial logon, the installer is unable to start any Open Source Programs, due to legal restrictions from the license which these programs are under.
Use of ROFUS:
1. For the purpose of ease of use, ROFUS allows you to assign a command line to the “Start this program” box. This will automatically start the program on initial logon, when your computer has logged in to the desktop.
2. In addition to running the program on initial logon, you can also open a specific program by using “Open specific program”. Simply type the name of the program in the box, and press the [Enter] key.
3. When you logoff, ROFUS will close the specific program. In addition, you can start another specific program by using “Reopen specific program”. Simply type the name of the program in the box, and press the [Enter]
